Online Quilt Class

cement works 300

A few months ago I was asked if I was interested in giving an online quilting class….I hesitated because I’d heard this was a lot of work!!  But I was also very taken with the idea that anyone could afford to take such a class..whether their budget of time or money (or both) was limited.  I’ve often felt it was such a shame that the workshops in lovely places  and art and craft schools like Penland (where I’m teaching in July) or Arrowmont (summer 2010) are not possible for so many folk.

I’ve enjoyed writing the blog more than I expected; an online class is a good  step beyond the blog but not one where I’d have to commit all my creative energy for a year or more as is the case with writing a book.  I’ve especially loved the interaction with blog readers in the Comments section!  And with online classes there’s a possibility for much more conversation…..so I decided to try it.
Another reason for agreeing to do an online class  is that it helps to clarify your ideas if you teach them, even more so if you put them into writing.  I generally have a mind like a grasshopper – great leaps in any direction at the most unexpected moments, so trying to put thoughts into an orderly sequence has been a good exercise in logicality though, I must admit, trying at times!
here’s the link: Quilt University
If you scroll down you’ll see me listed in the April 9th grouping of classes.
My often incoherent ramblings have been beautifully edited by Carol Miller, the “dean” of Quilt University, but sadly she doesn’t like exclamation points as much as I do!!!  so if you read any of my words of description please mentally insert a lot of these little fellows: !!!!!!
After any workshop I teach I love to get feedback and images of quilts made during or afterwards and these are guaranteed with an online class – so I think it will be fun and I’ll report back!! And now to turn to my preparations for my next workshop in Phoenix, AZ….but first..I think..a nice cup of tea!
If you have been, thanks for reading!  Elizabeth
PS I just heard the class is closed already but it will be running again in mid June. thank you!

I signed up for your class this morning and I am really looking forward to it. I have been pretty stalled out lately in terms of creativity and I think your class is just what I need to get moving again. See you in class!!!!!!!

I am completely thrilled that I was able to sign up for the QU class last night. I've admired your work for years (!!!!!) and enjoyed and been inspired by your blog, so this is a treat! Can't wait! Thanks for making this possible for us far-flung threadheads.

I love what you said about having a mind like a grasshopper! Wow, can I relate! I now have a way to succinctly describe my mind to my friends...thanks!

I missed getting in your April Quilt U class :<( However, I have the first day of registration for the next class marked on my calendar in red. I've long been a great admirer of your work and I love reading your blog!

Just in time I signed in for your class, because I received a course newsletter e-mail from QU.
Reading the comments of some of the less fortunate readers of your blog, I feel I'm one of the lucky ones!
For me this a wonderful chance to follow your lessons.
Smiles from the Netherlands!

I have enjoyed reading your blog, and missed registering for the upcoming class @QU, but hope to make the next one. Glad you have joined the faculty there as it's not easy to get to go to a workshop in person!!! thank you! (i like exclamation points also!!!)

Elizabeth,
I'm one of the lucky students who was able to enroll in your class. Ever since you came to our EBHQ workshop in Berkeley, I've been wanting to take another class from you. I'm so inspired by your architectural pieces. This will be fun!
