The whole town needs grounding and contrast and light/life. In the second one you brought it to life with light, value, contrast and a grounding and unifying cohesion. Although it is not peopled, you get the feeling that this is a happily inhabited place.Turtlemoonimpressionshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01178649128269650377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-85836416174380851172015-04-25T05:24:23.701-07:002015-04-25T05:24:23.701-07:00I prefer the second one, Elizabeth, with its warme...I prefer the second one, Elizabeth, with its warmer colours. I find it more cohesive and coherent. I admire your treatment of trees, something that I find challenging.Heather Dubreuilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13626475036351705686noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-25947060258253760302015-04-24T22:34:39.628-07:002015-04-24T22:34:39.628-07:00After reading Lora Martin's comment, I tried t...After reading Lora Martin's comment, I tried to like the first one more. But couldn't. To me the dark was depressing and spoke of coal dust.

The brightness of the second one makes me happy.

I am reminded of the 70s-80s when watercolors were done in browns and blacks and grays. And I liked some, but when it came time to buy, I bought a brighter one and wondered if I lacked artistic vision.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-13523521769199197462015-04-24T21:41:22.807-07:002015-04-24T21:41:22.807-07:00The first one is the one I like better. Also, it does not seem as bright and clear, seems dark with mysteries to be solved.Lora Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03319424007847225300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-9778325076572488202015-04-24T20:14:52.128-07:002015-04-24T20:14:52.128-07:00The second piece was more cohesive. In the first one the building in the foreground is confusing and the tall column in the background looked like a giant candle. The second one looks like the Athens, GA I know and love - a vibrant college town, and one where happy memories are made (in my family, anyway). So I guess my preference was all about color/mood.kayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00806888344075888873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-49986806476832192962015-04-24T09:27:07.536-07:002015-04-24T09:27:07.536-07:00On the first one my eye went to the center first a...On the first one my eye went to the center first and stopped.
