We can be inspired and make something new from it without cloning. Goodness, the world is so full of ideas, we need to incorporate them into our work and put our own slant on them--make them our own. Thank you for the thought you inspire in me!Jackiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04730298448632087144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-34981413023073654852010-06-26T09:56:32.099-07:002010-06-26T09:56:32.099-07:00Very interesting to read. I find it strange when so often in design classes a huge amount of time is dedicated to dissect work by artists who have been "successful" i.e. sold a lot of work because we do not hear an awful lot about artists who have not sold their work no matter how good it is. If we want to learn how to make true fresh work and create a style that is not cloned the only way forward is to put on a pair of blinkers and disregard what is in vogue, what sells and plough one's own furrow. It is very refreshing to find that you in your teaching encourage the practise and leave the cloning of other peoples work be.Mariannehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/35815411@N06/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-25209173619121875722010-06-26T05:47:40.745-07:002010-06-26T05:47:40.745-07:00Yes, thanks for posting an interesting topic.
