I think that most people can "take" a critique if you imply that there is a solution and it is one that they can find.
There are some people of course who don't even Hear the critique!! and for them it just rolls off with no harm done!Elizabeth Bartonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13928615247903165719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-5150448427098522582010-11-08T09:52:42.299-08:002010-11-08T09:52:42.299-08:00First of all - thank you for the critiques over th...First of all - thank you for the critiques over the years- they've been very helpful. That said - I find that a lot of times I get critques that are too careful about saying negative things. I guess that's why its good to know who you are critiquing - can they take what you really think?Nina Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14316034317827146338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-48453690728577874492010-11-07T17:40:45.344-08:002010-11-07T17:40:45.344-08:00nice thoughts about criticism!

I usually have to digest the criticism for a bit, and then I am better able to absorb the outside perspective.
What you say about working through the same concept in several pieces is VERY helpful. doing that, with a critique along the way, gives one a chance to see what would happen if a different solution were used... i.e., go for a broader color palette, stop working in such a close perspective, clean up the areas that get muddy where groupings of shapes come together.
thanks for getting me thinking!cynhttp://www.cynsartquilts.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-42624319343672417472010-11-05T11:40:51.229-07:002010-11-05T11:40:51.229-07:00Oh, now that is the type of critique I love to get...Oh, now that is the type of critique I love to get. I always try to balance out my comments so that they are constructive and supportive.
