There's a very large piece in the works and, to be true to my intent, lots of hand stitching involved meaning it will not be anywhere near finished for that Deadline. Oh well. I'd rather be happy with it when it's finally done. Thanks..Deb Lacativahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03037530669295128974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-12018637625997148252012-07-22T17:09:31.191-07:002012-07-22T17:09:31.191-07:00elizabeth....thank you so much for your thoughts o...elizabeth....thank you so much for your thoughts on realism vs abstract art. enjoy your stay in the smoky mountains (one of my most favorite and beautiful places on earth)...tom heflintom heflinnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-78173362700780686622012-07-21T04:33:36.415-07:002012-07-21T04:33:36.415-07:00I think your own personal style will come out too ...I think your own personal style will come out too despite the "genre" - the characteristic way you fit the various elements together..like handwriting a sonnet or a limerick!Elizabeth Bartonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13928615247903165719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-85010290276665479792012-07-19T07:42:18.849-07:002012-07-19T07:42:18.849-07:00Just saw where a very well known portrait artist i...Just saw where a very well known portrait artist in art quilts had a rejection from Houston. This quilt is very different from previous work. Guess Houston doesn't like for her to get out of the box either.Connie in Alabamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00326006203761665176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-91771557292929618872012-07-18T09:50:50.161-07:002012-07-18T09:50:50.161-07:00The "experts" in art can be frustrating....The "experts" in art can be frustrating. Years ago, when I painted and sold animals, I submitted my work to a well known company that did repros of stuff like mine (some much better, others not so much) and they told me I needed to specialize in just one animal. No mention of the quality or lack thereof, just that reason for not being interested. I was puzzled at the time, but have seen this over and over. Who wants to live in a box? Not me either!Elsie Montgomeryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13739927333538419518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-48602434707033040502012-07-17T17:25:44.851-07:002012-07-17T17:25:44.851-07:00Bravo! My realism is more abstracted, but recognizable. I am back to working mostly in abstract, currently, trying to decide where I am most comfortable.Gerriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06292762162661584206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1210759514036256082.post-3867208106308043812012-07-17T11:34:10.254-07:002012-07-17T11:34:10.254-07:00I find it irritating that abstract and representat...I find it irritating that abstract and representational always seem to be talked about as such either/or categories. There's a real continuum, IMO, and we all fall somewhere on it. I like to think it is not such a departure to move back and forth a bit on that continuum.Terry Granthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16650965451863656517noreply@blogger.com
